Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say initial examinations show the substance was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident made him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
